A Brave Start on the Path to Medicine

Despite being just one year away from her final HKDSE exams at a prestigious girls’ school in Hong Kong, B.C.’s ambition to study Medicine was at a standstill. She had not chosen Chemistry as an elective, a non-negotiable prerequisite for medical school. Unwilling to abandon her dream, B.C. made the courageous decision to jump out of her comfort zone and restart her academic journey entirely, moving to a top independent school in the UK for her A-Levels. This new path required her to take on A-Level Chemistry, a subject completely new to her, from scratch. Determined to succeed from day one, she proactively joined Reagent Academy in the summer before Year 12 to build her foundational knowledge from the very beginning.

Securing a Place at Imperial College London

B.C.’s journey is a testament to what dedication and expert guidance can achieve. In March of her final year, she received a coveted conditional offer from Imperial College London, alongside with offers from UCL, the University of Aberdeen, and the University of Hong Kong. She went on to achieve a truly exceptional set of final A-Level results: four A*s. Most remarkably, in the subject she had never studied before, Chemistry, she scored an incredible 265 out of 300, a result she described as a mark she had “never got this high”. B.C. proudly accepted her place at Imperial College London, beginning her journey to becoming a doctor and proving that with the right support, any academic challenge can be overcome.
