An Ambitious Dream, A Significant Hurdle

After completing her HKDSE, WS.Y. set her sights on a career in healthcare, applying to study Diagnostic Radiography at UK universities. Her dream was within reach, but one significant hurdle stood in her way: the IELTS exam. Coming from a Chinese-medium secondary school, her exposure to academic English was limited, making the test a particular challenge. After diligent self-revision, her first attempt yielded a 6.0, falling short of her demanding conditional offer of Band 7.0 with no component below 6.5. With only two months before the deadline, she knew she needed expert support to close the significant gap.

A Tailored and Intensive Approach

Achieving a full one-band improvement across all four components is a major challenge for any student. For a student with a limited English foundation, it required a highly specialised and intensive programme. We therefore assigned two of our expert IELTS tutors to provide targeted support. Using our exclusive, in-house notes designed for non-native speakers, our tutors systematically analysed her weaknesses and provided daily, personalised feedback. WS.Y.’s commitment was extraordinary; she handed in at least one piece of writing for marking every single day, allowing for rapid, iterative improvement.

Achieving the Dream

The combination of WS.Y.’s hard work and our expert coaching paid off spectacularly. After just 30 hours of intensive lessons over one month, she achieved her target overall Band 7.0, with a remarkable Speaking score of 7.5. For a student from her educational background to make such a significant leap in a short time was an incredible result. Having met her university’s demanding requirement, WS.Y. is now pursuing her dream of becoming a radiographer, her story a powerful example of how our tailored, intensive support can help a determined student overcome any obstacle.
